NATIONAL CYBER SAFETY INITIATIVE (SCHOOLS & COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS)

Individual schools and community organisations use the National Survey to benchmark themselves against the profile of other similar schools/organisations — they can request a report for their school/community organisation based on the responses to the survey of the young people/students, teachers/staff and parents in their school/community. To ensure that the reports for schools/community organisations provide a representative picture of cyber-safety, we recommend that all relevant members of each school/community be invited to complete the survey.

To make this process manageable, radii.org will set-up the survey for each school/community organisation — a fee of 50 cents to $1 based on the total enrollment of each school or the number of members in your community organisation, is payable as a contribution to costs. The fee payable in each case and the payment process can be accessed at www.radii.org/cybersafety/schoolcommunity.

The fee covers the set of three surveys — young people/students, teachers/organisation staff, and parents/carers, or your school/organisation can choose to survey just one or two of these target groups — the same fee applies whether the survey is undertaken for 1, 2, or 3 of the target groups.

To achieve a good response rate and consistency, the surveys for individual schools and community organisations, will be managed by radii.org, who will:

  • customise each survey by adding the relevant school/community organisation crest/banner and colours

  • make the surveys available to students, teachers and parents online in schools, in community venues with public Internet access (eg. libraries), and at home

  • monitor and run the survey
  • send appropriate reminders to participants — to ensure a good response zrate

  • provide your school/community organisation with a report within 7–days of the completion of the survey.

As a school/community organisation, your role will include the following:

  • provide information to students/young people, teachers/staff and parents about the survey, on the basis of information provided by radii.org

  • provide a list of email addresses, where available, for teachers/staff and parents (for reminder purposes)

  • where you have Internet access (eg. school computer labs, community libraries), make access available to participants to complete the survey

  • publicise the survey in your community.

Confidentiallity

Data and the report for each school/community organsation will be available only to the school/community organsation itself.

The surveys will not require respondents to provide any information that would allow individual students/young people, parents or teachers/staff to be identified.
