NATIONAL CYBER SAFETY INITIATIVE (NATIONAL SURVEYS)

The first National Survey of Cyber Safety will be conducted by radii.org May-Sept 2008.

The survey will be conducted online in collaboration with organizations that provide services to young people and their families.
Organisations that would like to support the national survey by providing information to their members are invited to provide contact details for a key person in their organisation.

The cyber safety survey will collect information from students/young people, teachers/staff and parents/carers about issues related to:
  • access to and frequency of use of online environments and mobile phones
  • the types and incidence of cyber-media exposure to embarrassing or offensive material
  • bullying on the Internet and via other electronic means, such as mobile phones

  • the links between cyber-bullying and bullying in other circumstances
  • parent's understanding of cyber safety

  • the supervision of children's access to the Internet and mobile phones, etc

  • effective strategies for addressing incidences of cyber-bullying.

The findings from the national survey will be used to develop programs to support young people and families and implement strategies to ensure safety in online and related environments.
